AC Shadows Introduces Surprising AoT Crossover for Holiday Season

In a unexpected partnership that breaks usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Revealed

According to the official release, "A strange confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of banned practices and fearsome transformations reverberate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine cult.

The adventure focuses on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses

The trailer features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Additional Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an special katana together with multiple items concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

  • Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
  • Mikasa costume for Naoe
  • Special arms
  • Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Update

This update also introduces the game's third complimentary story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Past Anime Crossovers

This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime properties. The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that unmistakably referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
