Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them few options but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
